General information about the project
From january to april 2007 at The Counselling and Support Center for Parents 16 families were asking for help. Five of these families were accepted in our assistance project, the others were informed and advised to ask help from other centers or organisations.
We couldn't assist all these families because we haven't finished yet the helping process for three of the families we worked with last year and human resources aren't enough to accomplish all the things we have to do in this project. One of the most commun and severe problem of these families is a place of their own where to live- just one of these 15 families have their own house, the others pay a monthly rent, facing a critical financial and material situation.
A family presentation
One of the five families taken over this year in our project , is C.E. family. E. is a lady who married L. in 1988. She has three children: two girls and a boy. Unfortunately when the boy was only 10 months old he received an injection which caused him a severe crisis which lasted 40 minutes. He was taken to a hospital from Gherla where he had to stayed for 40 days being treated with medecines. From here he went to the infantile psychiatric hospital from Cluj-Napoca where he stayed five months, from january to may. The boy didn't succed to recover and he left the hospital with the following diagnosis: "cerebral paralysis, spastic paresis, severe psychic retard". Because of these disabilities, the boy was evaluated like a person with special needs, with a severe type of handicap.
After many years, more exactly after five years from the accident of the boy, this family had to face new problems: Mr. L., husband and father died in a car accident. Mrs. C.E. remained widow. She had to take care of three children, one of them having a severe disease.
At that time, this family lived in the countryside, in a village close to Cluj-Napoca. The mother, trying to provide to the girls a better future, decided in 2003 to move to live in Cluj-Napoca town, leting the disabled boy with her mother in the countryside. Mrs. E. found a job into a factory where are prepared chemical solutions. She lived in different places paying a monthly rent but from 2004 she found a stable rent place where to live.
When we met Mrs. C.E., in March, this year, we descovered that she had a work accident: a chemical solution enter into her eye and she had to bear a lens operation. Although the costs of the operation were supported by the firm were she was hired, because of her insufficient income, she hardly faces her family expenses. At this time she have passed the eye operation but the results are so different from the doctors' expectations. She can't see with the operated eye contrariwise complications appeared so she must be operated once again. Mrs. E. is worried for her sight, her own future and her children future. We want to help this family, in the difficult time of trial they have to overcome, giving them the suppot they need it.
