May -June News

As we have recounted in our previous news bulletins, throughout our project we come to meet the needs of older women who are alone, struggling with health issues, low incomes and who do not have any first grade supporters.

In the present we are assisting nine ladies: Bartha Varvara, Torok Ana, Palfi Elisabeta, Cristea Irina, Gall Susana, Stefan Ana, Ilies Melinda, Bercean Margareta si Berger Eva.

The coordinator of this project is Rodica Rusu, and her work is materialized in different activities and services we want you to know of.

May – June was a hard period because three of the ladies above mentioned: Palfi Elisabeta, Bercean Margareta si Ilies Melinda have been hospitalized and needed attendance ( visits, encouragement and even medicine).

Mrs. Ilies Melinda is now 83 and she broke her hand and leg and has been operated.

Being visited, supported and encouraged she accepted the surgery and it was a success and now after two months she is taking her first steps again.

Mrs Stefan Ana was joined by Rodica Rusu to the Cardiology Clinic for a checkup.

In order for them to forget about their loneliness and feel the warmth of the sun we (Mrs. Cristea, Mrs Stefan and Mrs. Bercean and I ) have taken a walk in the park where memories are more easily evoked.

For them to feel appreciated and loved we have celebrated their birthdays and there were ladies who confessed they had never celebrated their birthdays before.

And with those who were able to walk we went to a tearoom where they had something sweet and so they were reminded of their youth. As for those who couldn't come, the cakes came to them.

Mrs. Torok A. has raised her granddaughter alone ( the girl was left orphan). She has grown and so did her needs.

When situations overwhelm Mrs. Torok, she calls me to talk, pray and find solutions.

Part of our job are the go-in-betweens these months done for Mrs Stefan and Mrs. Gall

The weekly and monthly shoppings are of a great help which they are very much happy for.

The emotional support help them to overcome more easily this hard and sad period of life – aging

Mr Bartha loves listening to her, reading to her and praying with her.

We bought and fixed water meters for Mrs Stefan. They are worth 356,7 RON

Whatever you want people do to you, you do unto them.
