Social Assistance for elderly 2010
The aim of the project : regaining the ability of the assisted person to integrate in society, preventing loneliness, isolation, depression, suicidal thoughts and promoting moral-Christian values.
Due to age and illness, their condition degrades with each passing day; the pain and suffering and are at home. Besides the lack of health, other shortcomings add even more burden to these souls. Two of them are immobilized in the house being dependent the aid of others.
In this period 8 old ladies have been assisted, in need of help and having serious health problems. Besides the monthly activities and services we've also done the following : we've created the support group, we've delivered the food packages from the City Hall, and, we've tried to keep in mind the winter holidays.
Unfortunately, in most cases, getting old is seen as a period with lots of incapacities , illness, pain, loneliness, poverty, balance, tears and even suicidal thoughts. These are the problems which the persons that we assist.
In January we've elaborated and planned the activities related to the Social Assistance for Elders program for year 2009, we've selected the persons to be assisted and we've made all the necessary preparative : social inquiries, personal papers, questionnaires, evaluation papers, contracts, etc.
In November 2008 we canceled the contract of Mrs. Gall Susana (suffering from schizophrenia) at her wish. Despite our efforts to persuade her to receive our help, which was so necessary, the lack of treatment aggravated her condition and so our collaboration became impossible.
August is themonth when the stuff of Herald is in vacation. Still, our beneficiaries benefited even throughout this period of partial assistance, such as : the monthly shopping at Carrefour, home delivery of food products and house calls.
During these few months we have assisted 10 persons, 8 of them requiring full services and 2 needing only partial services. As we mentioned before, these persons are old ladies (with ages between 59-86), they are ill, alone (no close relatives) and have a low income, that is
